GPA Calculator
Calculate your semester or cumulative GPA on the US 4.0 scale — add as many courses as you need.
How to use it
Add each course with its letter grade and credit hours. On the US 4.0 scale: A = 4.0, A− = 3.7, B+ = 3.3, B = 3.0, B− = 2.7, C+ = 2.3, C = 2.0, C− = 1.7, D+ = 1.3, D = 1.0, F = 0. Your GPA is the credit-weighted average of those points. Add your previous GPA and credits to see your new cumulative GPA.
What GPA do you need?
Most US employers that screen by GPA look for 3.0+, competitive graduate programs often expect 3.5+, and many scholarships require keeping at least a 3.0. One strong semester moves a cumulative GPA less than students expect — the credit math in this calculator shows why consistency beats a single heroic term.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do A+ grades count as 4.3?
On the standard unweighted 4.0 scale, no — A and A+ both equal 4.0. Some high schools use weighted scales for honors/AP classes; this calculator uses the standard college scale.
How are repeated courses counted?
Policies vary by school: some replace the grade, some average both attempts. Check your registrar's policy.
