Retirement Calculator
Find out how much you will have at retirement — and whether it covers the income you want, including Social Security.
How to use it
The calculator grows your savings until retirement, then compares the nest egg with what your desired lifestyle costs. Your target is your yearly spending minus Social Security, multiplied across your retirement years (grown at a conservative 4% withdrawal assumption shown in the result).
The 4% rule, in plain words
A long-standing rule of thumb says a diversified portfolio can support withdrawals of about 4% of its starting value per year for roughly 30 years. So a $1,000,000 portfolio supports about $40,000 a year before Social Security and pensions. This calculator shows the income your projected balance supports on that basis.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much should I have saved by my age?
A common benchmark (Fidelity's guideline): about 1× your salary by 30, 3× by 40, 6× by 50, and 8–10× by 67. Benchmarks are rough — your spending matters more than your salary.
Should I include my home?
Most planners exclude home equity from retirement income unless you plan to downsize or use a reverse mortgage.
